I do not watch television due to the FCC and the fears of something being “inappropriately? broadcast. Plus I hate commercials.

I have caught 24 on DVD. I have only seen seasons 1-2. I am picking up season 3 after work today. I just finished watching the 2nd season for the 2nd time! A great show. Is season 3 comparable to the first 2? I assume Jack Bauer doesn’t soften…although I hear he is hooked to the heroin this season.

Season 3 is probably the weakest season in my opinion. It was made back when 24 was only shot a couple episode ahead to react to viewer response. So, the season is actually kind of two different story lines. The first one takes about half the season, and suffered dismal viewer response, so the entire second half of the season is almost completely unrelated. And, the second half is much better.

You will have the benefit of watching it on DVD, which in itself should make it infinitely more enjoyable. Because, in addition to suffering the above flaws, it was almost the most fragmented season in regard to airings. New episode were shown as frequently as other shows, but since 24 cannot do reruns, other "specials" were shown in its place. Not to mention long holiday breaks that really took you out of the show.

Oh, I forgot to say. Season 1 & 2 are probably the best 24 has had to offer, however season 4 is pretty good, season 3 is ok, and I am still unsure about season 5.

Check my new topic about season comparison. I do think season 3 was the worst, but 1 and 5 were the best in my opinion. 4 and 2 were also awesome.
